A Christmas Play, or About the Glorious Birth

Playing and singing about the birth of the savior

The Ostrava author Tomáš Vůjtek continues the tradition of folk baroque plays in contemporary language. The story of the birth of the baby Jesus, which includes shepherds, three kings and Herod, is framed by the conflict between heaven and hell. In hell, a calculated revenge against the Lord God himself is being prepared. Fortunately, all the intrigues of the infernals will fail and we will be able to sing at the end of Bethlehem that "...to us, to us he was born". After all, the entire production will be interspersed with well-known carols and also original Christmas songs.

Premiering December 10, 2021 on the Main Stage.
